AMANDA JONES: 2-DAY MASTER CLASS

Hosted online and culminating with a scheduled one on one chat with Amanda Jones, the Amanda Jones 2-Day Master Class covers a range of topics from finding your voice as a modern media composer to preparing for, landing and succeeding at your next project. This year focuses on the film, television and documentary landscape. All applicants must apply to participate and must demonstrate the ability to write a variety of score cues ranging in styles along with a notated score.

DAY 1 INTENSIVE - 4 HOURS

Finding Your Voice

  • Who are you? How do you stand out among other composers?

  • Using your aptitudes to characterize your work

Networking and Managing Expectations

  • Where to find your next project? How to connect with directors, producers and showrunners.

  • Managing Expectations with Studio Film vs. Indie Film, Documentary Series vs Documentary Film and Television Series. Managing expectations with the Director, Showrunner and Studio Executives

  • Get to know your PRO (Performing Rights Organization)

Presentation of Materials (Your Brand)

  • Creating a resume, website and social media presence.

  • Creating a visual reel and audio reel

DAY 2 INTENSIVE - 4 HOURS

Score Selection featuring Special Guests, Jeff Russo (Alien Earth, Fargo, Ripley, Umbrella Academy, Star Trek: Discovery) and Sherri Chung (Found, Gremlins: Secrets of the Mogwai, Riverdale)

  • Review a selection of scores from applicants to discuss.

Building a Team featuring Special Guests, Steve Nice (Nice Management)

  • From co-composers to additional writers to management and more. How to scale up effectively.

Continuing to Build and Furthering Education

  • Identify your strengths and weaknesses.

SCHEDULED 1 ON 1 DISCUSSION

The 2-day masterclass will culminate with a closed one on one conversation to discuss career specific next steps. This will be scheduled with the option of conducting in-person* or over zoom.

HOW TO APPLY

All applicants must apply to participate and must demonstrate the ability to write a variety of score cues ranging in styles along with a notated score. The submission of a notated score is optional.
